Pinellas County Florida Real Estate Statistics for January 2015
The January 2015 real estate statistics have just been released by the Pinellas Realtor Organization and Suncoast MLS.
At first glance, January looked to be a down month, as it had the fewest month-to-month closings in almost a year. However, when looking year-over-year, January 2015 was the best January since the Great Recession. Many speculate that the increased market activity is due to one of the harshest winters hitting the northeast in decades, and that certainly helps, but it is important to recognize that some aspects of homeownership are becoming more affordable. Last month, at the urging of NAR, the White House announced Mortgage Insurance Premiums would go down by almost $1,000 per year for FHA borrowers.
